LANSING — Michigan voters will be asked to pass a sales tax increase as part of a $1.3-billion transportation funding deal approved early Friday by lawmakers — who settled on an all-or-nothing statewide vote to fix deteriorating roads.

Economic Development Office

The EDO coordinates and implements the economic development services offered by the City of Kentwood, including the following:

  • Makes contact with the business community through business retention and expansion calls, coordinating with The Right Place, Inc. and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).
  • Provides information on state economic development programs that affect the Kentwood business community.
  • Reviews and approves loans to businesses through the Kentwood Economic Development Corporation.
  • Provides information to city officials regarding economic development issues affecting the City.
  • Provides assistance to businesses for programs such as Public Act 198 tax abatements and other incentives.
  • Prepares marketing materials for the City.
  • Provides city officials with feedback from the business community through the annual Business Forum.
  • Provides staff support for the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.
