Present: Chairperson Robert Coughlin, Sharon R. Brinks, Ray VerWys and Mayor Richard L. Root. Other Commissioners: Michael Brown, Richard Clanton, and Frank Cummings. Also present: Assistant City Engineer Tim Bradshaw, Finance Director Tom Chase, Information Systems Manager Bill Dudgeon, Deputy Police Chief Tom Hillen, Deputy Administrator Rich Houtteman, City Clerk Dan Kasunic, City Engineer/Engineering & Inspections Director Steve Kepley, Fire Chief Brent Looman, Community Development Director Terry Schweitzer, Fire Department Administrative Assistant Nancy Shane, Public Works Director Ron Woods and Parks and Recreation Director Charlie Ziesemer. Also: Grand Rapids Press and Consumer’s Energy Area Manager Karen McCarthy.

1. ORDINANCE TO EXTEND THE CONSUMERS ENERGY ELECTRIC
FRANCHISE ORDINANCE UNTIL 2016.
Consumer Energy Representative McCarthy stated the language is the same as the
last agreement with the exemption that the City wanted to add regarding the
supervision by the Department of Public Works of tree trimming in the ROW.

Motion by Brinks, supported by VerWys, to recommend to the City Commission to
extend the Consumers Energy Electric Franchise Ordinance until 2016.

Motion Carried.
