Absent with notification: Dale Potter, Laura Johnson and Darius Quinn.

Staff: Charlie Ziesemer, Parks & Recreation Director; Kendall Klingelsmith, Deputy Director;
Dan Burger, Intern

1) Park Plan Update
Ziesemer reviewed the information gathered regarding the 2010-15 Kentwood Park & Recreation Plan that is to be submitted to the State in order to qualify for DNR grants. Information gathered: history of the department; community description; planning process; survey Information; inventory of facilities; and the action plan with goals and objectives. The Commissioners decided to take a couple of weeks to review and give suggestions to Ziesemer any ideas that can be included in the plan including goals, objectives and the action plan. It was decided to have a draft plan complete by the December 14th Commission meeting. The meeting will give the citizens an opportunity to make any additional comments regarding the plan.

2) Staff Report:
Mt Bike Trail at Stanaback: Ziesemer distributed an email that was objecting to the development of a mountain bike trail within Stanaback Park. Ziesemer also discussed the issues of the email with Roger Sabine, Kent County Parks Director. Sabine commented that he is 'very comfortable and a strong proponent' of the organization that is supporting the development and maintenance of the trail. The Commission questioned some of the comments made and still supported development of the trail.
Staff and budget reductions due to budget constraints were discussed.
Taste of Kentwood is still being planned in hopes of using the money to support the REACH park program. A Silent Action will be added to assist in raising funds. Any ideas for donations can be forwarded on to Kendall.
Santa Parade down Division is happening this year on December 5th. Everybody is welcome to participate and get involved to help promote the Recreation Dept.

3) Commissioner Report:
Jones reported graffiti on the East West Trail.
Coughlin is initiating fundraising efforts to assist in support of the City's 4th of July Celebration. He would like to form an ad-hoc committee to give assistance to the Mayor and Kendall in raising funds. He asked the Commissioners to come up with contacts of people who can be approached to make donations. Commissioners can make calls to people they know or forward the contact information to him or Kendall who will approach the potential donator.

Meeting adjourned at 6:15 PM.
