Present: Commissioners: Chairperson Michael W. Brown, Sharon Brinks, Richard Clanton, Robert Coughlin, Frank Cummings, and Mayor Richard L. Root. Also present: Deputy Administrator Rich Houtteman, City Clerk Dan Kasunic, City Engineer Steve Kepley, Deputy Fire Chief Brent Looman, Police Chief Richard Mattice, Fire Department Administrative Assistant Nancy Shane, City Attorney Jeff Sluggett, Assistant Finance Director Phil Tietz, and Community Development Director Terry Schweitzer. Also present representing Cedar Springs Fence Company, John Totten.
1. VARIANCE REQUEST FOR 1083 WHISTLESTOP DR. TO PERMIT A SIX FOOT PRIVACY FENCE THROUGH DRAIN EASEMENT.
City Engineer Kepley reviewed the memorandum dated April 22, 2011 regarding the easement and the ordinance. Mr. Totten explained his proposed installation of fencing to allow for flow of rain water. After a brief discussion the Committee made the following motion:
Motion by Clanton, seconded by Root, to deny the variance request for 1083 Whistlestop Drive for a permit to install a six (6) foot privacy fence through a drain easement.
Motion Carried.
2. SPECIAL ASSESSMENT ALTERNATIVES FOR THE WALMA AVENUE RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT FROM 44TH STREET TO BRETON AVE.
Motion by Clanton, seconded by Root, to authorize the Mayor to proceed to assess all non-governmental properties along Walma Avenue from 44th Street to Breton Avenue for sidewalk or to defer the assessment for properties zoned and/or used residentially under the pre-2007 Special Assessment Resolution Amendment.
Motion Carried.
