SERVICE COMMITTEE
November 1, 2011

5:30 P.M.

Present: Chairperson: Michael W. Brown, Richard Clanton, Ray VerWys and Mayor Richard L. Root. Also present: Commissioners Sharon Brinks, Robert Coughlin, and Frank Cummings. Also: Assistant City Engineer Tim Bradshaw, Finance Director Tom Chase, Deputy Administrator Rich Houtteman, City Clerk Dan Kasunic, City Engineer Steve Kepley, Fire Chief Brent Looman, Assistant Finance Director Lorna Nenciarini, Police Chief Richard Mattice, Community Development Director Terry Schweitzer, Fire Department Administrative Assistant Nancy Shane, Human Resource Director Lisa Sonego, and Public Works Director Ron Woods. 1. VARIANCE TO MAINTAIN A CHAIN LINK FENCE IN A DRAINAGE AND FLOODWAY EASEMENT FOR 4740 CONDUCTOR CT.
Because the applicant had not been notified, this request was suggested to be placed on the next meeting’s agenda.

Motion by Root, supported by VerWys, to postpone any action until the next Service Committee Meeting.

Motion Carried.

Commissioner Brinks reminded the Committee of an action the City wanted to take a few years ago regarding the Crippen Drain; however, the action desired was stopped by the State’s Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and it has been discovered the State is looking into any possible regulation that overrides the Federal DEQ. DPW Director Woods reviewed what the City wanted done and Commissioner Brinks requested that staff write to the State on this particular issue to see if the State will reconsider the issue.

Motion by Root, seconded by Clanton, to have staff contact the State in reference to the Crippen Drain issue.

Motion Carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 P.M.
