Applicant: Ken Dixon (representing ICC BEHAR)
Location: 3425 East Paris Avenue, SE
Request: The applicant wishes to construct a 96-foot high minaret. Section 3.03.A and Section 8.03.B of the Kentwood Zoning Ordinance limits the height of the minaret to 45 feet. The requested variance is for an increase in height of 51 feet to the maximum height permitted by the Zoning Ordinance.
Applicant: Sandra and Eric DeLamielleure
Location: 5131 East Paris Avenue, SE
Request: The applicant wishes to operate a fitness facility at 5131 East Paris Avenue. The property is zoned I-1 Light Industrial and Section 10.02.A does not allow for fitness facilities in the I-1 Light Industrial district. The request is for a use variance to allow for a fitness facility to operate at this location.
Applicant: Sacred Beginnings Women’s Transitional Program
Location: 4550 Bowen Boulevard, SE
Request: The applicant wishes to operate a safe-house for women on the property. The property is zoned C-2 Community Commercial and is within a historic district. The Zoning Ordinance allows for single family residential as long as it is within a historic district as designated by the City of Kentwood Historic Preservation Commission. The requested use variance is to permit a safe-house to be operated at this location as a single family use even though the functional equivalent of a family occupying the dwelling will exist for limited durations.
