Historic Preservation Commission
The City of Kentwood Historic Preservation Commission (KHPC) is a group of seven individuals appointed by the City Commission to help preserve the history of the community. Any resident interested in serving on the KHPC may complete the on-line application or contact the Mayor';s Office (554-0771) for more information. On August 25, 2012 at 2-:00pm the Kentwood Historic Preservation Commission will be hosting a fund-raiser in the Community Room at the Kentwood Branch Library. Local History Books Available!
The Story of Kentwood describes the dramatic struggles and sacrifices of hte earliest settlers of Paris Township, the changes that marked the Township's coming of age near the turn of the century, and the rapid transformation of an agricultural area into a thriving suburban community. The authors weave stories told by longtime residents with historical facts and text to create a book that is an interesting as well as an informative source. Don't Throw It Out!
When was the last time you cleaned your attic or basement? What did you do with all of the old pictures and other memorabilia?
Whatever you do, don't throw it out and don't leave it tucked away so that no one else can see it! You are the community and your history is worth sharing with others! Consider adding it to the Kentwood Library for preservation and use within the Local History Room.

Regular Meeting Schedule
Unless otherwise noticed, the KHPC meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Heritage Room at the Kentwood Library (4950 Breton Avenue).
