APPROVED MINUTES OF THE
ORDINANCE COMMITTEE
November 24, 2009

Present: Chairperson Robert Coughlin (via phone), Sharon R. Brinks and Ray VerWys. Absent: Mayor Richard L. Root. Also present: City Clerk Dan Kasunic, Deputy Administrator Rich Houtteman, and Community Development Director Terry Schweitzer.

1. ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT REGARDING CORPORATE
FLAGS AND UTILITY TRAILERS.
Director Schweitzer explained that this provision had been left out in error during
the codification process and this is to correct that error.

Motion by Coughlin, supported by VerWys, to recommend to the City Commission to adopt an ordinance to the Zoning Ordinance amending corporate flags and utility
trailers.

Motion Carried.

2. ORDINANCE AMENDMENT INCORPORATING UTILITY TRAILER
WITHIN THE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE ORDINANCE.
Noted Director Schweitzer this allows for definition and stipulates what regulations
would relate to utility trailers. After a brief discussion it was noted a caveat would
be added of an exemption period while the Leaf Recycling Center is open.

Motion by Coughlin, supported by VerWys, to recommend to the City Commission
to adopt an ordinance to amend Section 86-101 through 86-109 of the Code of
Ordinances, incorporating utility trailers within the recreational vehicle ordinance.

Motion Carried.

3. PROPOSED TAXICAB/LIMO ORDINANCE.
City Clerk Kasunic reviewed the changes to the proposed ordinances. The
Committee discussed the proposed ordinance and their concerns. The Committee
requested the Clerk to discuss this ordinance with the Grand Rapids City Attorney.

Motion by VerWys, supported by Coughlin, to table the proposed Taxicab
ordinance until the next Ordinance Committee Meeting.

Motion carried.
