Minutes for 09/20/2010

Present: Chairperson: Michael W. Brown, Richard Clanton, Frank Cummings, Ray VerWys and Mayor Richard L. Root. Also present: Deputy Administrator Rich Houtteman, City Clerk Dan Kasunic, Deputy Fire Chief Brent Looman, Police Chief Richard Mattice, Fire Department Administrative Assistant Nancy Shane and Public Works Director Ron Woods.

REQUEST OF RYAN MOSELEY TO REVIEW THE WATER BILL FOR 2159-61 COUNTRYWOOD DRIVE, SE.
Public Works Director Woods reviewed his memorandum dated September 15, 2010 regarding the billing dispute at 2159-2161 Countrywood. Director Woods explained with examples of how the meters work, and the history regarding the readings and the interaction with Mr. Moseley. Director Woods informed the Committee of the amount of meters that are of the old style within the Wyoming Water District within Kentwood and reviewed the ordinance in regards to paying for service. The homeowner, Mr. Moseley, reviewed his interactions with City staff, when he had purchased the house and his calculations for a proposed amount owed. The Committee asked questions, reviewed actions of both parties, discussed the situation, discussed options, but in the end no further information was requested prior to any decision to be made and stipulated that no shut off of water or penalty should be assessed until a decision is made by the Service Committee.


Motion by Root, supported by Clanton, to suspend any action until the Service Committee decides what action will be done.

Motion Carried.
