City of Kentwood Tree Lighting
Join the City of Kentwood for the Annual Community Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 9th, at the Kentwood Public Library. The night includes a holiday light parade, followed by tree lighting and caroling. There will also be carriage rides, hot chocolate and cookies, live music, caroling, and of course a visit from Santa! This festive event is free and open to the public.
From November 15 through March 15, no parking of any vehicle is permitted on either side of any City of Kentwood street between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. or at any other times in which on-street parking could impair or impede snowplowing, cleaning or maintenance operations. Exterior House Check
The Kentwood Police Department has implemented a program that provides community members with peace of mind through courtesy exterior home checks while they are away. To arrange a courtesy exterior house check, contact Vicki Highland at
Try to do your shopping during daylight hours. If you are out after dark, park in parking lots that are well-lit.
Keep your car doors locked and place any packagesout of sight in the trunk.
Carry debit or credit cards instead of cash. If you carry cash, carry it in your front pockets.
Dress casually and comfortably. Avoid wearing expensive jewelry.
Teach your young children what to do if they get separated from you. Have them look for a store employee, security guard or police officer.
Try to shop in groups or at least let someone know where you are going and when you are expecting to return.
